Future

The plan for this website is to provide a base for Generator material. I'm setting myself a target of one track release a week. For now the tracks will be freely downloadable in high quality MP3, as high as MP3 can be, at least. Think of these releases as my thanks for people who have helped and appreciated my artistic endeavours to date. Once things get up to speed (I already have material ready for the next two months) I intend to have from 3 to 5 tracks downloadable at any one time, so it's in your interest to check the site often..!
What direction the music will take is not planned.

Present

Generator is the solo project of Paul Toohill. The music is predominantly electronic. For now, the best label I can use is EBM.

Past

I was born in Sheffield (England) too many years ago to remember. After growing up in various UK locations, I moved to Italy in 1989, for reasons which have been lost in the mists of time.
I started making music back in the early 80's, inspired by electronic and industrial bands.
In the 90's I DJ-ed countless clubs in Rome (Italy).
I started taking the occupation of singer seriously at the end of the 90's, participating in a project that gave me the opportunity to perform across Europe (England, Germany, Austria, Holland, Russia).
I was the singer on the Muscle and Hate - Nitzer Ebb tribute album, working with Sebastian Komor.

Why Generator?

The name Generator conveys the idea of creating, generating, a collective of parts that transforms fuel, in this case ideas, and turns them into energy.

Why Solo?

One of the things I have always liked about making electronic music is the fact that you can work alone. You don't depend on anyone, need anyone, and most of all, the decisions you take are your own. Groups can be a melting pot of ideas, but all too often, it all turns into an ego clash, and the "art" is left behind.

Tours?

Clearly touring has been put on hold, with all energy being dedicated to the music for now. Needless to say, with over 10 years of experience as a frontman on stage, I'm always interested in any concert / tour proposals that surface.
